A needlecase in vintage fabrics with embroidered words: 'Sewing mends me'.
I have used a really special and richly coloured piece of vintage fabric for the lining. I don't know how old the piece is, with its red dog roses , trails of morning glory and ribbon weavings. It was among a batch of very old pieces, but I'm thinking it may be a 1930's or 1950's.
Anyway, I've waited a while to use it. Having embroidered the words in I wanted to have the needlecase open with a bit of a zing; like saying ;'surprise, here we are at last, time to sew'.
The back 'cover', red with white polka dots was the fun choice to close with.
The outer is interlined to give a little extra weight and protection from stray pins. The 'pages' are a double layer of deep red felt.
The embroidered words are on a nicely textured off-white vintage French linen
Dimensions when closed: 11.5cm x 8cm
Please say if you would like the tiny colourful safety pins and needle threader to be left inside.
