A needlecase made from French vintage linen and French vintage country-style gingham checked cotton.
The 'Shaker' style motif was used to signify 'Hands to work, Hearts to God'.
Here, the tiny heart is embroidered in cross stitch and the hand in running-stitch.
Inside the back 'cover' is a handy little pocket, also embroidered with a smaller version of the motif; this is a handy place to keep the ever so useful needle threader!
I now make a habit of adding a light padding or inter-lining as it makes the item more substantial, nicer to hold and provides a bit more protection from stray pins.
The inner pages (where you put the pins and needles) are a double layer of soft winceyette.
Size when closed is 11cm x 10.5cm
