A pretty bag made from the vintage quilt pieces.
The main part is a tiny faded rose bud pattern while the front applique is a bunch of blowsy roses against a soft, spring green background, framed by another piece featuring rose pink diamonds.
The lining is a piece of thin vintage 'voile' with floral sprigs - the sort of fabric used to make nighties in the 1920's and 30's
The handles (46cm long) are made from haberdashers ribbon, in gentle matching shades, interlined with another fabric to add some sturdiness.
Size of the bag itself is: 16cm x 15.5cm
I like to have my quilt bags, in small to medium sizes like this one, hanging from cupboard handles here and there. There are always 'essentials' to be kept safely to hand in this way;
- a place for lists
- especially creative, 'to do' lists
- hair ribbons and scrunchies
...anything else that takes your fancy.
Part of the joy of using fragments of vintage fabric is incorporating the old 'mends' and adding some of one's own! Heer there are a few new mends (in the top right corner of the bag) in tiny stitches.
