An invention of mine - a vintage book cover re-imagined and made into a fabric needlecase.
The illustration is from a very old book (C19th) titled 'How to be Happy though married', with italics on the word 'though'!
There was no irony though, the book is a good-hearted, but serious guide for the married woman of that era.
Time then to add a little comment that might, truly, be the secret to married bliss; I have popped in the missing answer 'Just Sew' (of course!) in the perfect space within the floral swag.
Useful as well as beautiful, the needlecase opens with satin-stitch embroidered edged pages, vintage fabric trims and a tiny pocket in the same.
I have slipped a vintage yarn card in there, for a bit of extra period charm.
The outer fabric is a soft pigeon grey with pale green/blue print and has something of the feel of old-book kid leather (it isn't though!) lined and paged with an off-white linen mix fabric and tied with dove grey ribbons.
Size when opened out is 16.5cm x 10cm
