On the edge of our small market town is a an important historic field, used briefly around this time of year to graze a small herd of 'Highland Cattle' before they are released on May 13th to the National Trust Commons until sometime in November. Of course, I am assuming all  these particular cattle make it to the Commons grazing; I'd like to think so.  Later on, a fair few of them wander into the town, along those routes not protected by the many cattle grids in the area.

The scene is captivating in a very wintery, ancient looking kind of way.
